DERRY
The closest airport to Milford is City of Derry airport (about an hours drive to Milford) with only 1 flight a day from London (flight around 4pm). Public transport is pretty minimal in Donegal so the best options are car hire or cab.
For those who like to do their own driving, the airport has an Avis, Europcar and Hertz amongst others.
A taxi from the airport to Milford should cost around £60.
BELFAST
There are two airports in Belfast: Belfast International and Belfast City (aka George Best airport). Belfast Intl is about a 2 and a half hour drive to Milford, while Belfast City is about a 3 hour drive. There is a regular airport bus service (www.airporter.com) which picks up from both Belfast airports and brings you down to Derry city.
Again, both Belfast airports have plenty of car hire options.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to Ryanair cancelling their Belfast City routes, the best flight option is to fly over on the Friday. There are some early morning flights into both Belfast airports but they probably won’t get you down to Milford, checked into your hotel and freshened up in time for the service at 3pm. If you’d prefer to fly on the Saturday, give your self plenty of time for the drive down and if you can’t make the church service, that’s fine – we’ll look forward to seeing you at the reception from 4.30pm onwards in The Waters Edge, Rathmullan.
